This hotel is great value for money. The prices are affordable and reasonable, especially considering the amenities provided. The attention to detail, such as the showers with good pressure and the helpful front desk staff, makes the stay even more enjoyable. I also appreciate the flexibility in room choices, as the prices for different dorm options are the same. Plus, the location is fantastic with easy access to attractions like the library, surf spots, a cute cafe, and the nearby Countdown supermarket.
All in all, this hotel was more than satisfactory and there was nothing that could be improved upon.

The hostel had a friendly and helpful staff who were able to provide information about transportation and local attractions. The rooms and showers were generally clean and satisfactory.-The social atmosphere of the hostel was great for meeting other travelers.
The kitchen area could get overcrowded, especially during peak times, as there were only a limited number of cooking spots available. The location of the hostel was not very convenient, requiring a decent commute to reach the city center.

I recently stayed at a backpackers in Christchurch and was pleasantly surprised by the value for money. The prices were affordable and the attention to detail in the rooms was commendable. The hotel's location near the beach was a definite highlight, allowing for enjoyable walks and stunning views. Additionally, the hotel's proximity to the bus stop made it incredibly convenient for exploring the area further. The service provided by the staff was outstanding and their friendly demeanour added to the overall positive experience. The rooms were well-equipped, with a TV and DVD player, allowing for some downtime after a day of exploring.
All in all, my stay at this hotel was fantastic and I couldn't find any aspect that needed improvement.

The hotel is conveniently located near the beach, which is a great spot for surfing. the room was clean and tidy.
The hotel is situated in a run-down neighborhood, which can feel unsafe at times. There were some maintenance issues in my room like a lumpy bed and stained sinks, which is a turn off.

The bathrooms could have been cleaner.

The guestrooms at Point Break Backpackers were so cozy and comfortable, it felt like home! We had a great night's sleep with soft carpets, and they even provided complimentary coffee and tea. The linens were clean and fresh, and the locker gave us peace of mind for storing our belongings. Plus, the WiFi made it easy to stay connected during our stay. As a family with kids, we loved the warm and welcoming atmosphere of our room. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day of sightseeing.
One thing we didn't love was that the bathroom facilities were shared. It's just our personal preference to have a private bathroom, but we understand that some people might not mind.

The view from the kitchen was really nice, you could see the hills around it, and the night manager was great, she made me feel welcome and helped with any issues. , the free breakfast was quite decent and saved me some money. the hostel was within walking distance of a beach, which was a big plus.
There were quite a few negatives as well. The rooms were old and not very clean, and the showers were sometimes dirty and not very hot.

the location near the beach, cute shops, and street art was a pleasant surprise. the area was peaceful and quiet, and easy to drive to. Working at the library nearby was a great perk, even though I had to get a new logon password every 30 minutes. There were also good restaurants, shops, and a supermarket between the library and the hostel. Despite some areas needing improvement, the new owner is doing a great job and the place is starting to look really good. the food and coffee were delicious and reasonably priced, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Thank you for the portable heater!
No complaints.
